For 51 years, the Smith Mountain Lake Fishing Tournament has been held on the first week end in May.  However the 52nd Tournament has been moved to October 16 -17 due the the crisis that our country and the world is experiencing.  Let's all pray for our Seniors, our Health Professionals, our First Responders and for our President and all Political Leaders...they all need support at this very difficult time.

About Franklin County Humane Society Adoption Center
FCHS Adoption Center was opened in 2009. The Adoption Center is a wonderful and happy place that provides a safe haven for homeless pets until they go to their forever homes. Our high visibility location and large windows that fill the rooms with light demonstrate our idea to market our pets in a pleasant setting and encourage you to “adopt don’t shop” for your next pet companion.

Dogs relax on beds in large Doggie Dens on the lower level. We added outdoor kennels for daytime use and the dogs enjoy supervised play groups in large fenced areas, enjoy a good game of Jolly Ball with den mates or a dip in the wading pools on a hot day. There is a separate Puppy Play Yard for outdoor romps.  Staff and volunteers walk the dogs on a wooded trail behind the Humane Society.

Kittens and cats are housed in the Kitten and Cat Rooms on the upper level. The rooms have large storefront windows that bring in light and provide visual stimulation. Cats enjoy climbing ladders to perches on top of the Cat Condos.

The Adoption Center also has Animal Food Kitchens, a Grooming Room and quarantine rooms to house new arrivals. All Adoption Center animals have an examination, vaccinations, tests and parasite treatment upon arrival. They are spayed/neutered and microchipped.

About 5 Points Music Foundation
Beginning in early 2017, 5 Points Music Foundation’s mission is to pursue the power of sound in all it’s glory through live events and programs that support music therapy, music education, and hearing loss advocacy. Tyler Godsey, founder and Director, has 2 children, both of whom were born with profound hearing loss. At the ages of 11 months old, both children were lucky enough to receive cochlear implants, giving them the gift of sound. It is this gift that serves as the genesis for what we do and why we do it.

As described by our founder, “One of the most profound experiences of my life was the moment that we first turned on our son’s implants. Being able to hear my wife say to my son, “I love you,” was the most powerful sound I have ever heard.” Three simple words…three simple vibrations can create such an immense impact on our emotional and physical states established the vision that has become 5 Points Music Foundation.
